If you like political fantasy that's thought provoking and character driven, definitely pick this one up. I wanted to imagine an orphaned aristocrat who has every reason to seek revenge, until he realizes that maybe, his family did wrong, too.

The relationships between the characters are sometimes messy and complicated, but you can really feel their connections, even when they disagree with each other.I think someone cursed me because lately, I'm facing too many disappointing books, I do not like this.

This story centers around Annie and Lee, two orphaned survivors of a great revolution that brought about the end of the ruling Barron class of dragon riders in favor of a 'communist' system. Emotional turmoil, political intrigue, the horrors of the past and the hopes of future peace may rest on the shoulders of young dragonriders who have trained together and are now faced with heart wrenching decisions. Going up against the dragonborn court and a foreign princess, he faces a test of loyalty that sets his head against his heart.antigone, or annie, definitely had the full character development seeing her truly grow, while lee’s arc factored in his past and interesting seeing his views on the regime. i’m very excited and scared to continue this incredible world of the aurelians to see where the story will take me next. The final book had me literally sobbing at my desk at work as I listened, and I was an absolute mess for the last third of it.
