About this deal

It is revealed Nazuna is a special case among vampires as she was not turned, but rather born as one, with a vampire mother and human father. A young boy (I forgot his name already) who’s disillusioned with his school and home life goes wandering the streets at night, only to encounter a vampire girl, whose name/title I understood to be something like “Nazuna of the Seven Grasses. Yamori opposes to her killing him, but she explains that her antics are not wrong if his death does not affect him.

Sometime later, Nazuna holds hands with Yamori so they will not get separated again, just as Seki passes with his new girlfriend. She approaches Ko when she hears that Nazuna is spending the night with a human where she attempts to suck his blood, until she is stopped by Nazuna. Their interactions are fun, showing how essentially naïve both characters are about what might otherwise be a racy arrangement. After she drinks his blood, they decide to rest, but unbeknownst to Yamori, they enter a love hotel.Skimming ahead in the other couple of volumes I own of this series, it looks like vampirism will continue to be a metaphorical means of exploring various sexuality and relationship topics in a lightly comedic, non-explicit way.

Ko manages to fight him off long enough for the three kids to escape, but the man follows them into the hallway. All in all, there were massive stretches here where I either couldn’t quite grasp what they were talking about, or found myself checking out and not really caring because what I did understand was repetitive and without much substance.A relieved Nazuna then drinks from the wound in his mouth, before jumping away, leaving him speechless.

In a café, Yamori tells Akira that he allows Nazuna to drink his blood due to his dissatisfaction with school. Ko cuts and runs when the pressure of school gets too much, which leads him into the night and to cross paths with the oddly attired Nazuna. After running into Kiyosumi, Yamori is approached by a blonde, slender woman, who flirtatiously talks and teases him. After Nazuna explains their mutually beneficial relationship to Akira, Yamori finally tells her of how he will become a vampire if he falls in love with Nazuna. Meanwhile, Nazuna thinks that Ko does not want to become a vampire anymore, and asks Nico and the other vampires to let him live.A flustered Akira discovers of Nazuna and Yamori's kiss, and tries to dissuade him from falling in love with a vampire. Ko, the protagonist, had been doing all right in life until he hit fourteen, at which point his lack of interest in romance suddenly became stressful socially (right there with you, buddy), eventually leading to him developing insomnia. I can totally understand why this bother others and I don't want to shame them, it just doesn't bother me.She has no interest in turning Ko into a vampire (which would require him to fall in love with her), but she does seem invested in his emotional well-being, something she's possibly unaware of. The two do not get along well, as she questions why Nazuna is spending so much time with Ko while not having turned him yet. What that is isn't clear yet, but I have a sneaking suspicion that the whole story is something of a metaphor for depression and introversion. Nazuna, visiting Ko's apartment, tells him that she has been a vampire for a long time, and that it is not as exciting as it may seem. I think it's great that we have an apathetic main lead who isn't really a dick, just a kid who's hit a rut early in life and doesn't know what to do about it.
