About this deal

He has authored numerous monographs on the work of late twentieth-century architects, including The Complete Zaha Hadid. Zaha Hadid was a revolutionary architect, who for many years built almost nothing, despite winning critical acclaim.

Born back in 1985, the Basic Art Series has evolved into the best-selling art book collection ever published.Meet three inspirational women from the world of music: Ella Fitzgerald, Dolly Parton, and Josephine Baker! Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Zaha Hadid (1950-2016) studied architecture in London and she became one of the most highly renowned and revered architects in the world. Zaha Hadid Architects maintains its commitment to her ideals of fluidity, innovation, originality and organic progression. Today, Hadid is firmly established among the elite of world architecture, her audacious and futuristic designs as well as her sense for style and fashion having catapulted her to international fame. Activity books and a journal provide even more ways to make the lives of these role models accessible to children.

I'm sad and disappointed that I've never heard of Zaha Hadid, who is a contemporary and fire architect whose identities include being female, Muslim, and from Iraq and Britain. She was an artist, as much as an architect, who fought to break the old rules and crafted her own 21st-century universe.During the latter years of her life, Hadid’s daring visions became a reality, bringing a unique new architectural language to cities and structures as varied as the Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art in Cincinnati, hailed by The New York Times as “the most important new building in America since the Cold War”; the MAXXI Museum in Rome; the Guangzhou Opera House in China; and the London 2012 Olympics Aquatics Centre. In this book from the highly acclaimed Little People, BIG DREAMS series, discover the incredible life of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. As the first woman to win both the Pritzker Prize for architecture and the RIBA Royal Gold Medal, Hadid broke the rules and re-defined the game, despite some saying her designs were unbuildable.

In addition to Source Books in Architecture, his writings have appeared in Log, Dialogue, Loud Paper, and elsewhere. I always want the students in my classroom to know about different careers, different obstacles people face, and different ways of thinking. The first book published on Zaha Hadid since her death in 2016, although book had been well into production. Critic and museum director Aaron Betsky’s introduction examines Hadid’s entire career, both in the context of architectural history and as a manifestation of the current and future state of architecture. This delightful series (Little People, Big Dreams) introduces young readers to outstanding people, from designers and artists to scientists. This fourth edition has been thoroughly expanded and brought up to date with the latest completed buildings and new projects. This long awaited first monograph on one of the world's most important architects collects Hadid's entire oeuvre-more than 80 built and unbuilt projects over 20 years- in one significant volume. That said, story wise it didn't flow quickly enough to hold my 4 year old's attention, and she's usually quite attentive even for memoirs. This charmingly illustrated hardback picture book is a fantastic way to acquaint young readers with British Iraqi architect, artist and designer, Zaha Hadid.

With abundant photographs, in-depth sketches, and Hadid’s own drawings, the volume traces the evolution of her career, spanning not only her most pioneering buildings but also the furniture and interior designs that were integrated into her unique, and distinctly 21st-century, universe. With her most recent commission, Cincinnati's Contemporary Arts Center, architect Zaha Hadid becomes the first woman ever to design an American museum. She is very inspiring and if you read her story it can really motivate you in becoming the best that you can be in your life. Born in Iraq, raised in London and recipient of the coveted Pritzker Architecture Prize (and twice winner of the UK’s Stirling Prize), Hadid transformed our experience of space and architecture in a career that spanned forty years. From her early sharply angled buildings to later more fluid architecture that made floors, ceilings, walls, and furniture part of an overall design, this essential introduction presents key examples of Hadid’s pioneering practice. This practice is driven by the development of rigorous interfaces between natural topographies, human-made systems and innovative technologies that have resulted in almost 1000 landmark projects across the globe.
