About this deal

This, Sophie explains, became one of the big features of Scotland in lockdown while people like me were watching old football videos and trying to decipher cookery books. A Scots healthcare worker, who wrote her first novel based on hilarious dating disasters, has soared straight to the top the erotic fiction chart.

She made mistakes, she was clumsy and at times impulsive but at lot of us will be able to see ourselves in her. There are a few minor grammar issues, and the continual fish references were a bit off-putting, but A Glasgow Kiss is a thoroughly enjoyable read that I fully recommend. Omg this book was so good i have never laughed so hard in my life 😂 Zara is so funny and every situation she gets herself into is class. Men from various backgrounds have reached out to Sophie, sharing their enthusiasm after devouring her novels on their Kindle or enjoying the audio versions during their commute. Before long they were being shared widely by women (and a few blokes) for whom Sophie’s dating experiences struck several chords. I’ve never agreed to date someone with whom I haven’t had a prolonged period of chatting beforehand.

The book, though fictionalised, features Zara, a young Glaswegian health worker whose online dating adventures could have been scripted by Quentin Tarantino and Bette Midler. There was moments that did make me giggle, but there was many uncomfortable, cringey to much detail moments that ruined the enjoyment.A few reviewers said they found it a bit cringe but I thought that was intentional by the author and was done so for the narrative. Anchored by Sophie, she’s bringing the sass and spilling the tea on real-life experiences that have inspired her hilarious stories.

Ultimately, though, the girl comes good with the perfect ending for her story—all she needed to be happy was her own confidence, and a man can't ever give you that! They were telling me that they’d been waiting for years for someone to describe how it really is for them in real life.

If you're looking for an innocent and cute love story this summer then this one is not for you haha. As her healthcare job got 'more intense' amid the coronavirus pandemic, the budding author wrote in between gruelling shifts. A Glasgow Kiss' came up in my Kindle Unlimited recs, and though I'd never heard of Sophie or of the book before, it immediately caught my eye. It’s the ultimate in low-cost, sustainable book-reading and often sparks an interest among members in other authors.

And I understand that it is refreshing to see a woman struggle with everyday problems like her period or farting when your crush is lying next to you, but this was so over the top. I found the main character a little too shallow and the language of the book was definitely cruder than I had expected. Trust me, Sophie Gravia's well written book "A Glasgow Kiss" is not short in missing out vital details. The second book in the series will be published in August and by then Sophie hopes to have found an agent. It helped to ease us all through the social restrictions and was a way of keeping the flames of romance enkindled. With 30 fast approaching, she’s determined to do whatever it takes to find love – or at least someone to sext!
