About this deal

Even during the festive season, three generations of my family would sit around the TV set to watch and enjoy Only Fools and Horses' Christmas Special. Told with his characteristic warmth and wit, Jason shines a wonderful new light on the characters and shows that fans have come to love him for, from Del Boy to Granville, Larkin to Frost. When David Jason emerged, he graciously signed not only my keepsake, but also the letter from my parents, etching the memory deep in my heart. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. And I've worked a few things out for myself as well, about friendship, ambition, rejection, success, failure, adversity and fortune.

Such is the magic that the entire team of Only Fools and Horses created, that you can watch the same episodes over and over and they never seem to get old, the jokes no less funny than they were the very first time you heard and watched them being performed.

I've been blessed to play characters such as Derek Trotter, Granville, Pop Larkin and Frost, who have changed my life in all sorts of ways, and taught me lessons that go far beyond the television set. I do not mind admitting that I read A Del of a Life - Lessons I've Learned by David Jason (real name Sir David John White) with more than a little trepidation.

In celebration of Sir David Jason’s 80th year, ‘A Del of a Life’ relives Jason’s extraordinary life and career from over 50 years in entertainment. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. That's why, when reading a book by someone who, along with the cast and crew that created Only Fools and Horses, has given you and different generations of your family so much pleasure, over so many years, that you are worried the book - perhaps even the author - may not live up to your expectations in the written word.We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. All that shines through in this book, and I found him, the book and his way of writing to be motivational, an inspiration and a joy to read. There are no small parts, only small actors," said Konstantin Sergeyevich Stanislavski, a seminal Soviet and Russian theatre practitioner in the 19th century, whose words Sir David seems to have lived his life by.

Sir David comes across as extremely likeable, humble, a hard worker, a trier and someone who always gives it his best shot. His acting career has been long and varied: from his theatre work in the West End to providing the voices of Mr Toad from The Wind in the Willows, Dangermouse and The BFG.Fortunately, during my life and career I have been given all sorts of advice and learned huge amounts from some great and enormously talented people. One sunny morning, with a letter of consent from my parents tucked away, I found myself standing near the set of 'A Touch of Frost. An hour of tai chi first thing in the morning, an HIIT work-out with my personal trainer, a bowl of steamed kale and a handful of almonds for lunch, and then two hours of yoga in the afternoon followed by an ice bath – this is a routine which I’m sure would work miracles for anyone of any age, although I can’t be entirely sure because I haven’t myself adopted any aspect of it at any point.
