About this deal

The price isn’t heavy on the budget at all. This is one of the cheapest CPU coolers out there that supports the AM4 slot, so you can’t go wrong with the price with this one.

Noise: Smaller fans have a tendency to be noisier, so it’s for the best if you choose a Ryzen 3700X cooler with a larger fan since it’ll be able to spin at lower speeds but produce the same amount of airflow, albeit with far less noise. Aesthetics and Build Quality First off, the Aerocool P7 L240 has monstrous thermal efficiency capabilities since it’s rated at a TDP (Thermal Design Process) of 380W, which is almost 6x the TDP of a Ryzen 7 3700X. Subsequently, it offers excellent performance thanks to dual 120mm Aerocool P7-F12 fans, coupled with a comparably low noise output of 31.8 dB(A). AMD's new non-X Zen 4 CPUs are a lot like non-X Zen 3 CPUs, which were a lot like the non-X Zen 2 CPUs, which were... okay we'll stop. Point is, they are exactly what you were probably expecting, more affordable and ever so slightly slower versions of their X counterparts. Looking at the single core performance we find that the 7600X is 5% faster than the 7600, the 7700X is just 3% faster than the 7700 and the 7900X is 4% faster than the 7900. So the margins are fairly similar, between 3-5% faster for the original X models and not a big difference. In most instances PBO does a good job of closing that small gap. It's the same at 1440p, so at least in this game it doesn't matter which model you use, performance will be the same.

Arctic distinguishes the Liquid Freezer II 120 via its top-notch after-sales support strengthened by an extensive 6-year warranty. When taking the stellar value for money into consideration, the Arctic Liquid Freezer II 120 cements itself as the Best 120mm AIO for Ryzen 7 3700X. Verdict With that in mind, can AMD entice more people to the AM5 platform with more affordable non-X Ryzen CPUs? As we saw the Intel Core i7-13700K ahead of the Ryzen 9 7900X in the last review, it had an even bigger advantage here when the AMD chip was limited by power draw. The Core i5-13600K is now almost a dead tie with the 7900 in all aspects.

Another good way to explain the design is “conservative.” This doesn’t have a ton of lighting options, but you do have enough RGB lights that are easy to control. The blade shape is a bit unusual, both in appearance and in performance. Pictured above is the ASUS Aura Sync software through which you can customize the RGB on your AMD Wraith Prism with plenty of available options. Razer Chroma But before we do that, we thought it would be a good idea to showcase what kind of a difference upgraded cooling makes in gaming and application performance. Today's testing was conducted with the Ryzen 9 3900X on the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Xtreme using DDR4-3200 CL14 memory and an MSI RTX 2080 Ti Gaming X Trio. Vermintide 2 shows up to a 1.5% performance improvement from upgrading the cooler with margins as small as half a percent. So you certainly couldn't invest money in a better cooler for these meager fps improvements. That said- I'd suggest buying fans for it, and if you know how, I'd suggest putting two fans on the unit push/pull, if you have enough clearance for your gpu/motherboard io shield/etc and room in the rear fan spot on your case.

Overview

You can’t use both cables simultaneously because, in this case, it will default to the RGB cable and will not allow you to control all the lights on your cooler. Therefore, you need to use only the USB cable. How To Change AMD Wraith Prism RGB These are two vastly different coolers when it comes to appearances. The AMD Wraith Prism from Ryzen 7 2700X is a flashier, more personalized cooler that you can get to do everything from turn off completely to send out Morse Code messages using lights.

Then Ryzen 7 2700 and Ryzen 5 2600X get the Wraith Spire, this model tips the scales at 372 grams making it 36% lighter, but it still sports a copper slug in the base. Then we have the non-X 2600 that gets the little Wraith Stealth weighing in at just 317 grams making it 15% lighter than the Spire and a whopping 45% lighter than the Prism.

They're The Same!?

This brings us to the next con, which is the price. The Aerocool P7 L240 is a bit overpriced when compared with other rival 240mm products such as the Deepcool Castle 240ex. Combined with the extra RGB controller, the overall price is a bit high. The Ryzen 9 7900 is a nice CPU, but it doesn't make much sense for gamers. You're much better off with the single CCD Ryzen 7 parts, and for productivity you might as well get the 7950X, or 13900K, though power usage and thermal issues make the Core i9 a lot less practical as a productivity CPU. Bottom Line But you can also see why AMD went about things the way they did. These non-X parts don't look nearly as impressive on a graph when compared to Intel 13th-gen range. The 7700X is just a few frames slower than the 13900K and finds itself in second place, the 7700 which is just a few percent slower is a mid-field contender in this graph, trailing the 13700K by a slim margin. Fan choice: any two fans optimized for static pressure with high CFM. SP 120s are solid and so are some of the Scythes, try to get some with at least 70 CFM or more.

For this cost per frame analysis we'll be including the current retail price of the CPU, a 32GB kit of memory, and a budget motherboard Moving to the Wraith Spire increased the load temperature by 6 degrees and although the CPU is now running hotter the fan speed for the Spire only maxed out at 1700 RPM so the operating volume was much the same. VRM temps also remained much the same. Of course, when using the box coolers the AIO won't be used, but I like how this case comes with four 140mm fans pre-installed, though they are all configured as exhaust fans so I'd recommend installing a few front mounted in-take fans. For this test though I went with the limited air-flow setup as the point of testing inside a case and not on the testbed is to more realistically simulate the conditions you would be using these air-coolers. Thermally, the AMD Wraith Prism performs excellently while cooling the AMD Ryzen 7 7700. It isn't able to keep pace with the Cooler Master MasterLiquid PL240 Flux that we use for all CPUs that we review, but it does well enough. The Ryzen 7 7700 doesn't exceed 78 degrees C during the Cinebench R23 test, and the performance difference shown between testing with the two coolers is negligible, at less than a 2% difference.

4. Lock Wraith Prism in Place

We'll just show you compression and decompression performance for 7-Zip, but in short the margins are similar to what we saw in Cinebench R23. That is to say the 7600 was typically 3% slower than the 7600X, and the same was also true for the 7700 vs 7700X, while the 7900 was up to 8% slower than the 7900X.
