About this deal

It’s fascinating to look back and see how my thoughts have shifted in the time since its release, and it’s also interesting to acknowledge that I’d be equally enthusiastic to read a book like this one in 2023.

You can take a peek at the post here to see what else made the cut back then – I’ve got my original thoughts and updated opinions. A slow burn romance that will have your toes curling for the unexpected, yet endearing love and passion that comes from Jack and Rose. Filled with awkwardness and sarcasm, there was real beauty in both characters and how they evolved together. The aura that oozes from him, the confidence, the determination, is what makes Jack Hawthorne the character that he is truly meant to be.We’re getting closer and closer to Maise releasing another romance, so now’s the time to finally move this one up your TBR if you haven’t yet! In November, I revisited my Top 19 of 2019 list in honor of my blogiversary – it was my most popular post of 2019 (with 11 views!

I’ve always enjoyed Ella Maise’s writing, but this is leaps and bounds above anything I’ve read by her – and most other authors – before. It is such a different story to read…Rose’ sickness (or yours) made it interesting on top of the normal slow burn romance I love. Finally getting closer to the ending of the story, Rose needs a surgery (for a kind of unique condition).

I will kiss you a thousand times every day if that’s what it takes to keep you in love with me for the rest of our days.

Then I love when things start getting blurry where they can no longer know whether they’re pretending or not and try to figure out how they truly feel about each other. The blog has since had well over one million views, but my reading preferences haven’t changed all that much. It was also one of the beefiest books I had read at the time, and trends have definitely moved in that direction these days. They'd have been into happily ever after land within a month if it weren't for this supposed guilt and the reader still has no clue.I fell in love with Jack Hawthorne right at the beginning, he’d crawled under my skin before I even knew it, he'd charmed his way into my heart, I lapped up his words, his frowns, his one liners to his deeply caring nature. And it's so repetitive, she ends every chapter with: "The amount of times Jack smiled today: zero" and it's really annoying after the millionth time. Writing became my world and I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than creating new characters and telling their stories.

This is a pure example that she falls first BUT HE FALLS HARDER 🤌 “What are you doing on New Year’s? Also, fun fact, I don’t have the same condition as the heroine (mine is rhinitis), but I felt her misery with the whole runny nose thing. We are no longer accepting applications for the job of GOLD STANDARD for the grumpy/sunshine and arranged marriage trope!one Christmas, he saw the world's prettiest girl playing with some dogs of all things when she should have been attending the party. it provided just the right amount of intrigue – i think grumpy characters can be difficult to pull off sometimes since you obviously want your readers to connect with them while still maintaining that grumpy, distant facade. Paired with the detailed descriptions of everyday tasks and simple events, and if you’re not feeling the story it will go off the rails in a big way. He’s so soft for her, he folds every time Rose wants anything and it’s just the most wholesome thing EVER. now, the reasoning behind their marriage in the big reveal was truly one of the dumbest things i have ever read.
