The initial application of Aramis 900 seems strong and harsh at first, but it dries down and softens immensely.

This one can't be worn by anyone born in the 1970s or later, but it still suits men who were in their 30s back then. It's a rose fragrance that projects about 1-2 h, leaving behind a skin scent of oakmoss and some greenery that doesn't project. In my memory , Devin was louder , more herbal , "grassier" than Aliage, more pine , it smelt the thick green grass , whereas Aliage is drier ( to my nose ) . This is frankly unique and not a crowd pleaser, not a "clean work scent" it will get noticed even though the longevity isn't beast mode (dial back after 4h).You may easily be labeled by a lover of perfume as “un-original,” if you purchase this but if smelling amazing means more to you than opinion, then go for it. Sillage is moderate ( much less than AE) which is what makes it more wearable and sociable than A E. My initial disappointment arose from trying to discover more layers, some kind of counterbalance, some woodiness, spiciness, musky or resinous base. Based upon other reviews here, it may be that age has taken its toll on this bottle, since most other people seem to report a strong sillage and long life. This one begins with musky salty soapy mix which makes it bit animalic and goes some type of dirty soap. This scent is perfect for daily use, and it falls right in the middle of being too strong or too light, striking an ideal balance. I think think it's good value for money when you consider this is handmade and you would easily spend a lot more on a much cheaper bottle of off the shelf aftershave. Anyone can make you look up by being loud and boorish, but it takes a cut above to get that second glance. Aramis is leathery musky with some resins, while Aramis 900 is primarily resins, herbs and patch with a touch of leather.

Considering that Aramis 900 costs half as much compared to when it came out I can forgive that it is a skin scent after two hours and it performs a bit better than Aramis Devin, which has disappeared after two hours on my skin.When I was in high school, one of my teachers was part owner of the family owned florist in our small town. About that civet: Its not fecal, exactly, but there is an animalic hint which actually blends well with the oak moss and green accords. This review is for the current formulation of Aramis 900 which, to my nose, is a powerful blend of herbal, mossy, soapy and floral notes. This is essentially Aromatics Elixir pour Homme, I wore it for a few months, and was twice asked if I was wearing Clinique's great creation.
