About this deal

One further thing to consider when buying a telescopic hedge trimmer is how small it compacts down. Most telescopic trimmers, even when not extended, can still be quite long (somewhere in the region of 170 cm). They have the advantage of being relatively light weight, although this can vary somewhat between models. Some battery-powered pole trimmers weigh as little as 3 kg, whilst other can weigh over 5 kg. Telescopic pole hedge trimmers also tend to have adjustable ‘head’ positions, so you can cut at several different angles too. In general, you want to be looking for a hedge trimmer with battery life of at least 30 minutes to give you a good amount of time to get your hedge trimming done. Some models can only achieve around 20 minutes, whilst others might get around an hour. For standard garden hedges, you won’t need the power of a petrol trimmer, so the choice is between battery or mains power.

A cordless hedge trimmer will be lighter and easier to manage than a petrol trimmer, although they generally don’t have quite the same strength. For me, the main downside to this hedge trimmer was how unbalanced it could sometimes feel, especially when fully extended. Due to its heavy head but lightweight body (it only weighs 3kg), it took a fair bit of effort to hold steady, and the provided shoulder strap didn’t really help with this. If you’re not yet familiar with Greenworks, chances are that you soon will be. This brand has been making a name for itself thanks to its focus on creating green alternatives to petrol-powered garden tools, with one such product being the Greenworks Cordless Pruner and Long Reach Hedge Trimmer. Since I used this hedge trimmer with a 5.0aH battery that I already had (Worx PowerShare batteries are interchangeable), it happily chugged away for a couple of hours, and still had more life left once I was done. If you don’t have this much hedge trimming to do, then a 2.0aH battery should give you about 20-30 minutes of runtime, and would be significantly cheaper. Delivery - Goods are priced in UK sterling. It might be that I’ve been spoiled by testing out all the best cordless telescopic pole trimmers on the market, because I was a bit nonplussed by this corded trimmer. For me, if it had been more powerful, I think I could justify being tethered to the national grid.

You’ll find that having access to different cutting angles not only makes cutting the top and sides of the hedge easier, but can also assist in trimming under the hedge too. How to Use a Telescopic Pole Trimmer If you know you’re going to have to charge the battery partway through the job, a shorter charging time will be useful. In our quest to find the best telescopic pole hedge trimmers, we tested a selection of hedge trimmers, considering a range of important criteria to ensure we identify top-performing models. Our testing process included various aspects: design, performance, power noise, safety, and value for money. Here is an overview of how we evaluated these categories: Description: The wooden handle, the tapered blade (6 1/2 “) and satisfying weightiness to this Gozney Dough Cutter make it the perfect tool to cut, shape and divide your dough into exact portion sizes. A meticulously crafted tool that embodies the artistry of handmade precision, elevating your pizza-cutting experience to new heights. Handmade in the picturesque region of Yorkshire, this pizza cutter is not just a kitchen utensil; it's a testament to quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design. Charging time can vary, and this is something to be aware of, especially if you don’t have the option of charging a spare battery whilst using the trimmer. Please note that BBQ's may arrive on a pallet due to the weight and size. Insurance restrictions mean the delivery driver will not be able to carry the barbecue up or down steps, through a property, wheel the pallet across a gravel driveway or up particularly steep driveways. Unfortunately, the delivery company we use are also unable to remove items from the pallet or take the pallet away with them. The driver will only be able to wheel the pallet as far as physically possible, which may only be kerbside.

Seeing as this is a corded hedge trimmer, I was a bit limited on where I could use it. Even with an enormously long 10 metre power cable, it wouldn’t reach outside the front wall of my property. Even so, it made short work of trimming my Japanese maple tree and other climbing plants in my garden. This can make them less versatile, especially if you have a large garden. Extension cables may have to be used, depending on the length of the cord provided. The cutter is also very easy to clean, It can be washed in the dishwasher, but it is recommended to wash it by hand to prolong its lifespan. The cutter also comes with a lifetime warranty for your peace of mind. Of course, the power that this machine provides means that you compromise when it comes to noise. This is definitely not a quiet machine that your neighbours won’t hear – I’d say that it was the loudest of the hedge trimmers that I tested. However, if you prefer the reassurance of mains power, you can use one in a small/medium garden – look for a power cable of at least 10 m. By nature, pole trimmers which extend to longer lengths have the potential to be slightly more unwieldy as you need to control something that is further away from you. Some tools come with ‘fast charge’ chargers, which will usually get the battery charged in around one hour. These are worth looking out for, or buying separately, if it’s important to you. Trimming Angles

VonHaus has included some key safety features in the design of this hedge trimmer too, which, again, makes it suitable for both novices and professionals. After testing it out for several hours, using a range of ‘targets’ both in my garden and on a friend’s farm, it’s precisely what I’d expect from a brand like Bosch. I’ve learned that the most effective way to control a heavy long reach hedge trimmer is with a good set of handles, which the GE-HH 18/45 has. The rear handle isn’t the best designed, but you can set it to four different angles to suit the task at hand. The huge front “D” handle makes things much easier to control, and there’s a shoulder strap too.Assembling this hedge trimmer is simple – just like the others that I tested, it only takes a couple of minutes and you probably won’t need the instructions. As you put it together, you’ll notice that the extension pole is optional, allowing you to use the machine at a shorter 210cm or extended out to 260cm. The blade’s 41cm cutting length may not be as long as some of the others out there, but the 7 positions that you can rotate the cutting head to, along with the rotating rear handle and adjustable secondary D-handle, more than make up for this. More often than not, hedge trimmers will be used for cutting conifers. To comfortably cut a conifer hedge, you’ll need a trimmer that can handle at least 14 mm branches . Look for models that stretch to 16 – 18 mm for additional power. If the batteries are interchangeable, you can buy a trimmer of the same make, and extend the running time of your trimmer by transferring the batteries between compatible products. Charging the Battery Please note that these charges are due to courier surcharges and are unfortunately not something we can build into our overall pricing structure.
