Initio Absolutes is the largest category from the perfume-maker. This line includes Initio Absolute Aphrodisiac (for men and women), Initio Addictive Vibration (perfume for women), Initio Blessed Baraka (for men and women), Initio Divine Attraction (for men and women), and Initio Mystic Experience (for men and women). It’s warm, sweet (but not too sweet), sexy and inviting. And attracts a LOT of positive attention. (Not complaining!) Absolute Aphrodisiac is an EDP and projects just under arm’s length for the first 1–2 hours, then sits closer to the skin, lasting around 8–10 plus hours. Initio Parfums use super high quality ingredients and collaborate with some of the world’s best perfumers to create their collection.

This fragrance boasts impressive longevity. Personally, it lasted around six hours for me, although you could still make out the delicate sensual, warm and vanillary musk base for slightly longer.This works well all year round, except in the high summer heat: special occasions, dates, work/office safe (spray lightly), casual, nights out, etc… This is super long lasting! Atomic Rose is an EDP and jumps off your skin for the first few hours (up to 6 feet) leaving a gorgeous scent trail. The fragrances come in beautiful bottles that have a soft rubber-like texture coating, adhered with their logo on the front (the name of each fragrance is engraved on the top of the cap). The brand’s name and name of the scent are engraved on the top of the cap. But of course, it’s only right that Indian oud takes centre stage, its benefits amplified through a puff of emerging, freshly-cut narcotic grass. According to Australian researchers, the warm, woody and slightly smoked mood created by oud promotes a sense of calm; it does this by activating the regions of the brain connected to well-being! As the fragrance snuggles into your skin and warms through slightly, the aroma is wrapped up in lashings of cosy, creamy vanilla and softly sensual musk; when these notes marry together, it’s the epitome of seduction.

Yes! It’s designed for all genders, and I definitely think everyone can fall for its bright but subtly spicy tones. Although it has universal appeal, I think it feels slightly closer to a traditionally ‘masculine’ fragrance due to its hot, woody feel, but anyone who loves rich, opulent fragrances is sure to love Oud for Happiness.

But, does it live up to its name?The Absolutes focus on high quality raw natural ingredients that have been blended to create super unique fragrances. Other qualities such as its booziness make it a men’s perfume. For me, it leans a bit to the feminine side. The scent becomes warmer and more comforting and loses nothing of its beautiful character. What surprises me most is that it smells like it was just sprayed on. How does that work!!! I remember how the waitress from the perfumery sprayed from half a meter on my hand, which impresses me all the more because the fragrance is so intense and "unmistakable". Less costly but just as good on the designer side, there’s Chopard Oud Malaki EDP, Gucci Intense Oud EDP and Versace Pour Homme Oud Noir EDP to sniff out. For the record, none of these contain real oud but they still capture its beauty using synthetic and natural materials.

Be careful not to overspray this one. You only need 1–2 sprays MAX or this could become annoying to others around you (it will fill a room!). Side Effect is a sophisticated mature scent more suited for the 25-up crowd and best worn in the cooler weather: fall/winter (avoid use in the high heat).
