About this deal
Key attributes: Very light, design enables one-handed drinking, wide mouth for easy filling and cleaning. We opened and closed the lids and stoppers of each flask 100 times, then checked if water would leak from the flask. Not having to remove the full cap reduces the amount of heat that escapes when using it, so liquids stay hot for longer.
In addition to its extremely rugged construction, the wide mouth makes filling and cleaning the flask easy, while the two different stoppers included with the flask make it very versatile too.
Since the American manufacturer, Thermos, came to fame, the term has become slang for vacuum-insulated flasks. This is a high-quality two litre flask which is capable of serving drinks for the whole family – great to bring along for day trips in the car or campervan. Surrounding these two flasks is an outer case that protects the flask and acts as another layer of insulation.
We also filled the flasks or cups with boiled water and then used that water to make a cup of tea for our 'tea test', and scored it out of ten based on how hot the resulting drink was. The design is neat and compact, but also incorporates a locking, flip-top cap for one-handed drinking. We were able to keep some tomato soup warm for 24 hours and on another occasion, some chilled orange squash remained cold after 36 hours.
It is robust and durable yet lightweight for its size, making it a versatile option for hot and cold use. You might think that the easiest way to get your hot drink fix is to carry a gas stove and camping kettle up to the summit in your rucksack. This Swedish-designed double-walled flask promotes itself as crucial kit for the rugged adventurer, so you whilst you might feel it’s a bit much for a Sunday afternoon stroll in the countryside, you can be assured it won't let you down, no matter the activity. These materials are either poor conductors (plastic/glass) or able to reflect heat back into the hot liquid or away from cold liquid (like stainless steel). On the other hand, it is fairly bulky for a 750ml flask, with a small cup compared to some other designs.
