About this deal

Eau de Cologne is a brief ray of sunshine on a cloudy day - beautiful, yet fleeting: it never offers more than an intimate skin scent and fades away with an hour. Aurora in Recommend Me a Perfume : October 2023: Hello Clydeian: Your request makes me think of Hermes Merveilles series.

I also like using it on my curtains as it gently scents the whole room and doesn't discolour the fabric. But all I can tell is that people often compare this one to Przemysławka eau de cologne from Poland. This comes from another time, another era (early 18th C), when dousing yourself in smell was improper/sacrilege? It seems that there were indeed some forward-thinking parents who donated the perfumes for the little girls’ lucky dips. Interestingly, the realism put off my partner, who said it "didn't smell like a perfume" and that it smelt to him as if he had rubbed a plain spice or herb directly onto his skin rather than a fragrance blend. That's it: when people recognize neroli in the air, they never say something so ridiculous as 'wow I can smell tangerine orange peach apricot blah blah', what is uttered is simply 'wow it's neroli', even though neroli can vaguely remind them of tangerine orange peach apricot and so forth. I was preparing a gift for the above-mentioned brother, and there was a slight violet theme to the gift because it included a box of Beech’s Violet Cream chocolates, which we both enjoy. He was a man of simple means and a hard working blue collar worker and this was his go to fragrance. I keep a big bottle of this in the bathroom as I like to dab it on myself during the weekend if I’m staying at home and wanting a bit of nostalgia.

Just a good, no-nonsense cologne that smells bracing and sharp and makes you feel clean and energized. I do realize that I might have a TOTALLY different perspective on 4711, and ALL citrus/strong/clean scents, if it were not for this association, I may like even ONE of this fragrance type. I got introduced to this as a child by my late aunt Mary, who used it all her life mainly to freshen up during long train journeys, which is why we always had a bunch of travel size bottles to toss in our purses. It's nice because it doesn't last too long, so it doesn't fill the room with the scent all day or waft throughout the house. Most bottles, I'm sure, were a birthday or Christmas present, not a personal choice, but had to be used up nonetheless. His ability to produce a constantly homogeneous fragrance consisting of dozens of monoessences was seen as a sensation at the time.

I also spray it on my hands and inhale as indicated on the box and it's a just a simple luxurious treat! It is used to swipe necks to keep shirt collars pristine, and also to clean all sorts of imaginable objects. Let's just say if I splashed myself with fruit juice, I would have achieved better sillage and logevity than with 4711. I use unscented shaving, bathing, and skincare products where possible, and this is the perfect cap to the routine. You just need to realize that it is not a cologne meant for others; it is a 'me' cologne that is meant for you to enjoy. Victoria: I was laughing over your comment earlier and then later in the day came across some old press release also claiming to recreate “Napoleon’s cologne” formula.
