Many bands This may well be an influence from the late, great Phil Lynott, with whom Wharton played towards the end of Lynott’s time with Thin Lizzy in the early 1980s. There is a real romance to the lyrics too – they are warmly familiar and almost cinematic in their scope. One of the most famous former members of Dare is Brian Cox in an Episode of Carpool (available on iTunes and Youtube he told Robert Llewellyn he joined because he lived up the road from Darren and left because they had a fight on tour in Berlin.

Road To Eden is likely to be best appreciated, played in full, as summer turns to autumn, where there’s still warmth and happy memories felt as the seasons slowly change colour. Road To Eden features ten brand new beautifully crafted songs that captures the very heart of DARE. With a full headline UK tour set for the UK in October 2022, plus dates in Spain, Scandinavia, and Germany, it’s going to be an exciting year for the band.We wanted to write an album that translated well to live performance,” says Darren. “Road To Eden has some great anthems, energy and power. We can’t wait to play the new songs live.” however, where the song could well have been a little melancholic in terms of its musicaldirection, the arrangement is such that it avoids this, well, to a degree at least. This is another tuneful and beautifully crafted song. The chorus is instant and hits you in the sweet spot with immediate effect as it’s plainlyobvious why this was chosen as the leading single from the album. Superb start to thealbum. Since early 2020 Josh has been entertaining us with exclusive monthly live sessions, streamed via Facebook. Dare was formed in 1985 by former Thin Lizzy keyboard player Darren Wharton after Phil Lynott had dissolved the band. [2] By 1987, Dare had gained a local following in Oldham and were signed with a four-year deal by A&M Records. [3]

In the summer of 2004, the band released their fifth album, Beneath the Shining Water. The single "Sea of Roses" once again received considerable airplay on Radio 2. The supporting tour was captured on the band's first live album, The Power of Nature: Live in Munich, released the following year in both CD and DVD editions, the latter of which included a series of interviews with Wharton in which he chronicles the history of the band. The live release would be the final Dare album to feature Andrew Moore on guitars. In 2008 Belief and Beneath the Shining Water were released as a double CD though Warner Music/ADA in the U.S. [3] Return of Vinny Burns [ edit ] guitar that drives it forward. Within the chorus itself, there is a lovely guitar line thatcounteracts the vocal melody to perfection – love it. From 2 January we’ll be featuring significant albums reviewed 2003-2023 in our featured album sequences as part of GRTR!@20 With previous DARE albums now having well over 4 million streams on Spotify, it’s clear that for the growing army of DARE fans, the wait is nearly over, as they prepare to join DARE on The Road To Eden. That they fell apart without realising that potential was a big disappointment to fans, myself included, but Darren Wharton resumed the band, albeit pursuing a mellower sound influenced by traditional celtic music. The new direction had its fans, but for me things weren’t the same.

chorus are infectious, to draw you in almost immediately. A short, but nicely arranged guitarsolo is added straight after the second chorus, before we make our exit from the song with Smith, David (14 September 2008). "Profile of Brian Cox". The Observer. London . Retrieved 20 December 2009. Widely regarded as a classic AOR album, I’d go as far as to say that it is unquestionably one of the finest AOR albums ever released by a UK act and is in my top 20 AOR albums of all time. There is certainly a fair bit of bite to the guitars on this new album, something that will please those fans who found albums such as Calm Before The Storm and Beneath The Shining Water, etc, a little too soft and moody.
