About this deal

A lightweight and sustainably made down-filled sleeping bag with a hydrophobic finish that improves performance in damp conditions.

It has been designed and developed in the UK by camping experts and comes with a host of practical features that make it a superb choice for regular campers. In our experience, we’ve comfortably slept in this thing in nothing but baselayers down to -5 or -6 degrees Celsius, though we wouldn’t push it further than that without a liner or without wearing a warm jacket inside.By rejecting non-essential cookies, Reddit may still use certain cookies to ensure the proper functionality of our platform.

Moreover, the bag packs down small, especially if stuffed into a dry sack, comes with a handy internal stash pocket, and the plush inner liner is soft on your skin. Additionally, the reasonably small pack size and weight of this bag make it a solid all-rounder for numerous adventures. It lofts well (lay it out, give it a shake and give it time to expand) and it will keep you comfortably warm in minus temperatures. My advice would be to get a Rab Ascent 500 or possibly 300 for spring/summer/autumn and supplement it with a cheap summer bag for winter. Who you are, what you eat, what you are lying on, who else is in the tent with you - it all counts, probably far more than the bag rating.

I did use a liner for extra warmth on the mountain as feel the cold but otherwise great sleeping bag, good inside zip to keep phone warm and draw strings get you nice and snug. The material feels a little plasticky, but that soon disappears as it warms up insulating you inside. Our community has been around for many years and pride ourselves on offering unbiased, critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds.

I used this recently on a sub zero trip to Dartmoor and found it extremely warm and not too claustophobic as same bags can be when cinched up.It also comes with a huge shoulder baffle, a comfortable hood that can be cinched tight around your head, and a handy little pocket on the zipper, suitable for small nick-nacks in the night.

Hell, just head into the Lake District in mid-January and take a peek into the various tents you spot. That OK, and comfort temp of minus 9 seems reasonable, but I do worry about the 'extreme tempreture' cited, which is minus 38! I am always cold yet this bag kept me toasty warm on my recent trip to Stok Kangri, I camped at 5000m and was very warm every night with no additional liner needed. As mentioned, we bought it back at the end of summer 2020 and have used it innumerable times over the years. One thing we have gotten used to after a night in the Leviathan is the inevitable plucking of feathers off our baselayers the morning after. You need fewer feathers the higher the fill power, so down products made with down of a higher fill power (750 or 900) will normally be lighter, more packable and pricier as a result. As one of our expert campers, Craig revels in testing camping equipment and knows a sturdy shelter from on that will give up the ghost when conditions become challenging. A common trick for making sleeping bags more malleable, this allows you to almost vacuum-pack the sleeping bag by pressing out all of the air inside it. Ideal for temperatures around -9°C but suitable for down to -16C, this fantastic value sleeping bag is perfect for wild camping, festivals and family camping trips. It will retain a layer of warmth around your body more effectively, staying warmer to keep you more comfortable.
