About this deal

Jon Sherman takes his lifetime of experience and helps the reader/golfer through the difficult aspects of golf to make better golfers, and happier people. As a long time golfer I found this book to be one of the best guides I have read to inform and set more realistic goals for my game.

I believe The Four Foundations is the most comprehensive and practical guide on how to improve your golf game and increase your enjoyment. But to this day, despite what I consider a very high grit level, there are still rounds where I have to struggle to stay engaged. You can finally get all the methods he’s used to become a scratch golfer and coach other players in one complete guide - The Four Foundations of Golf.

You can finally get all of the methods he's used to become a scratch golfer and coach other golfers in one complete guide. I was utterly terrified of intermediate wedge shots for years and would do anything to avoid leaving myself 30-80 yards from the hole. I’m in my early 40s and wish a mentor, coach, or my dad had put a book like this in front of me when I was 9 years old (albeit the data Jon references was not available in the 1990s, but you get the point). For example, knowing you are almost always better off getting closer to the hole, as long as you avoid hazards (water, bunkers, deep rough) or out OOB. Read more about the condition New: A new, unread, unused book in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages. The goal of a golf book should be simple—get you to shoot lower scores—but so often they're bogged down by technical jargon and theoretical filler. My score was the only litmus test of success, and when I felt it was out of reach, I would give up on the day.

You will have to take a much deeper dive into your game to figure out what is holding you back and what habits you need to change to get there. You can finally get all of the methods he’s used to become a scratch golfer and coach other golfers in one complete guide. It's about understanding how to be more efficient with your time to get the most out of your game on various topics. With these earlier chapters in the mental game section, I’m ultimately building a process you can commit to on every shot.I’m done comparing myself with much younger golfers who are fit and trim and can wind up like a cork screw.

Sherman does a great job of illustrating and supporting his concepts with statistics and objective data, while presenting in the information in an easily digestible manner. A pretty comprehensive accounting of the mental aspects of the game, and an excellent use of Statistics and data driven Analysis. The focus on how to improve your game without offering swing advice is an approach that can help a lot of players who are caught in an unending cycle of terrible quick tips from golf magazines and youtube instruction.

The Four Foundations of Golf is an excellent addition to any golf library, explaining a wide range of improvement methods in great depth without being confusing. Guidance on training to provide a more enjoyable round where a poor score on any given day does not destroy your enjoyment of the never ending challenge which is the game of golf. You can’t become the golfer at the top of your mountain (which is different for each player) without climbing through some mud at the bottom.
