sure, it can work in some very few, rare books, but it didn't for me here; however, i grew to adore this pairing as i kept reading with the direction their relationship went into. The male narrator’s version of Luca was too forced stereotypical New Yorker compared to all the other books he’s featured in. I’m almost don’t want to say that Greta is not like other girls, bc that notion has such a negative ring to it, but Greta stands out among CR’s heroines. I have all of Cora reillys books on audio and have listened to them multiple times but I'm sorry to say I really struggled with this one. I think that for someone who craved to become Capo that much, Amo giving up on that aspiration because of a woman he had met a few days/weeks ago didn't make any sense. I was also incredibly disappointed at Amo's lack of maturity in the beginning, especially after he had already met Greta and knew he wanted her, he just hoped she didn't see the papers. I definitely did not expect this great journey she has given us, she takes us through a roller coaster of emotions, from the first meeting, to the end, this couple will have you on the edge of your seat, they will not give you a break, you will jump with happiness, you will cry, you will get angry, you will get frustrated, you will laugh with them.

The pacing of the book was an issue for me, it's too long and I think it could have been a bit shorter.

I told myself I’m not reading any of the New Gen books and it’s been easy considering I got all I needed from the reviews they received, but then I see THIS!In all fairness our boy amo did try to break it off before he married ow and wanted to be with Greta he flew to Vegas and everything wanted to marry her too Greta said no … but than a year later they have an affair no penetration but they do other stuff. I always knew Greta was different, but I didn’t realized the extent of how much Greta is a weirdo until I read the beginning of the book. After a recent scandal with A Touch of Fate, I'm fairly positive that Cora freaked out and hired sensitivity readers.
