About this deal

Having a stabilized (in camera body in this case) macro lens and an electronic viewfinder makes shooting at small distances much more manageable. The Sony a9 III is the world's first full-frame mirrorless camera to feature a global electronic shutter with simultaneous readout. When I shoot macro, it can be massively helpful to get in a low position, such as on my stomach, to gain extra stability at those high magnifications. Personally, I use a lens hood to support my lighting gear like my diffuser, even though it cuts down on my working distance. Once I mastered the distance dial and I became comfortable using manual focus for macro images, this lens really came alive.

While it does hunt quite a bit — as most macro lenses do — there is a handy dial on the side which helps to narrow it down and pin-point where the camera should be looking.Late payment and early repayment penalties apply; full details of these will be provided in the loan agreement pack. I do find the 60mm (which is 120mm in 35mm format) perspective very tight for casual shooting, but it also provides very unique perspective, something that our eyes are not used to seeing, as we see with our wide (almost equivalent to 35mm) perspective naturally. This telephoto macro lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras from Olympus provides an angle of view equivalent to a 120mm lens used on a 35mm camera, has a silent MSC focusing motor and produces life size magnification at its closest focus distance. My old, porous brain was having a difficult time trying to remember all those combinations and the corresponding results obtained.

If they did, no sensible person would ever perform macro photography using full‑frame or medium-format cameras. The 60mm is a macro lens with a full magnification of 1:1 (that’s the magnification I shoot at 90% of the time). However, before concluding anything like that, you should try shooting a brightly lit stationary subject at f/5. I missed a few shots that I know I would have captured with my Panasonic 25mm or my Olympus 45mm when I was using this lens out on the street but the street really isn’t this lens’ natural environment. macro, efov 120 mm, f/4, 1/80, ISO-1600, cropped to 3191 pixels on the width, Handheld Hi Res, subject distance 895 mm OM-D E-M1X + M.

The 75mm is often just a little tight for me, and 40-45 is sometimes a little wide in terms of perspective for my taste…but 60mm is just right. You can see in the photo above a close up of the distance scale on the right that tells you what magnification you are at. As a Canadian macro photographer, you have to make the most of the warm months before the harsh winters hits and all the bugs disappear. If this is going to be a headshot lens (I would save your money for the Olympus 75mm), switch the distance dial to 0.In my opinion, the lens hood is vital because it shades the lens from stray light, which can produce glare in the image. has a focus limiter switch on the barrel so a photographer can adjust its auto focusing based on subject distance. In terms of sharpness, I think both lenses are about equal - the major difference is that the Oly can be used with achromats and extension tubes, and excels in the hands of those who utilise it to its full potential. macro with 16 mm and 10 mm Kenko extension tubes, f/8, 1/50, ISO-5000, subject distance 235 mm, Handheld Hi Res OM-D E-M1X + M. These techniques come at a cost: the subjects must be very still while I take multiple photos or the whole shot is toast.
