Al principio me costó engancharme porque no conectaba para nada con la narración, sin embargo, la trama es extraordinariamente original y pasa de ser una especie de parodia minada de referencias a una historia muy inteligente, diferente y entretenida. There's no real magic in it, but I think it's something magical nonetheless, and the author captured those emotions very well in his characterization of Isaac.

In that sense, even though I loved the amusing and fun side of Libriomancer what truly resonated with me was its exploration of power and responsibility. Our Vampires Are Different: Almost every variety of vampire, from Stoker's to Meyer's exists in this world, because of uninitiated libriomancers accidentally infecting themselves then spreading the curse. I keep up with his blogs (I'm sure he does with mine, too), and he's always quick to like one of my book posts on Facebook.

Being able to extract a magical device from a book using libriomancy does not grant the ability to use it. Isaac is a libriomancer, a member of a secret organization founded five centuries ago by Johannes Gutenberg to protect the world from supernatural threats. So he convinces himself that since the sex slave is not human just like his pet spider and has to follow rules laid out by some pulp fiction writing perv that somehow he can have a consensual sexual relationship with her.And because he’s a fantasy/sci fi fan, the tools he uses are instantly, joyfully recognizable to many of us. To his horror he discovers that vampires have been attacking other magic users as well, and Gutenberg has been kidnapped.
