About this deal

Gondor has a lot of cheap heroes, and a number of elite infantry options (Citadel Guard, Guardians of the Fountain Court, Osgiliath Veterans where you are using Faramir or Boromir) which give you access to Fight 4, which you absolutely want to make sure you win fights against Orcs. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

If I were to change these battlehost boxes to make them more evenly matched, we'd need to begin with Isengard: Isengard getting Saruman and Grima gives it a huge advantage besides all the Uruks they're getting. The additional models here are the Fighting Uruk Hai Warrior Command, Uruk Hai Siege Troops and Uruk Hai Berserkers. I choose Gandalf over Boromir every time, but in this one case, I think Boromir be a great addition. It’s an infantry force designed to rush forward and put a demolition charge into the enemy shieldwall.

Fortunately, Dunlending Horsemen and Huscarls - both eye wateringly expensive if purchased in multiples – can be easily proxied by third party miniatures. Yes, Eomer normally has a rule that makes him go berserk if Theoden or Eowyn die, but since you can't field Theoden or Eowyn in this list, they omitted the rule (awesome job, team, awesome job). Disclaimer: I’ve recommended Wildmen and Dunlending Warriors, but it must be said that these boxes are absolutely terrible value. This army clocks in at 491 points (if you can find a spare Uruk Hai Scout model great, you could also use Vrasku as a Scout with bow to get to 500).

Why you’d like it: If you already like the Dunland units, you get to take a LOT of them, and you get a few nice bonuses to boost their effectiveness and killing power. This is easily remedied by the stragglers running away (the Courage stats aren't great in any of these boxes) or a player choosing to quit the game early, but I'd rather that they introduce the concept of a quarter point instead of "killing all the guys. For a pure Isengard force from the LOTR Armies book, obvious additions are characters, monsters, missile troops and cavalry. This force consists of 48 plastic Citadel miniatures, usable in games of the Middle-earth™ Strategy Game. With the Palantir and his Lord of the Istari rules intact, I don't see how this army leader can't dominate against the warriors of the enemy and really pin down most of the enemy army leaders.ME:SBG doesn’t need a tear down and rebuild, which is why the new rulebook is minor changes, and the various errata and FAQs over this edition have been fixing broken combos that players have found to exploit, or correcting minor issues and confirming what the designer meant. This battleforce contains 48 plastic Citadel miniatures for use in games of Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game and is an ideal way for existing players to bolster their forces, or for new collectors to get into the game. While this is a good set of spells for him (and some of the most common spells that a Ringwraith player would use), both Gandalf and Saruman (spoiler alert) have 4 spells in their retinue and I think it would have been particularly interesting for the Witch-King to have retained Sap Will or Your Staff is Broken (considering that both Gandalf and Saruman are in the running). You’re getting two character packs and a command pack, so it isn’t very spendy, but it does give you a solid and fast infantry force (everything moves 8” and you have a drummer as well). The new plastic characters are universally great, though the basic infantry is decent but showing it’s age (it’s simple to build and paint at least).
