About this deal

The GT-1000 has 24 blocks of FX and all of them can be on at the same time if you want; there's no DSP limit. Editing the patch amp/effect configuration is accessed via the Effect button, which brings up a graphic of the chain of pedals, amplifier and cabs. The high watermarks at the moment are held by the Chase Bliss Automatone Format and Neural DSP Quad C The Core has the most complete I/O set of the 3 knob units, manageable powerconsumption and great midi capabilities, which makes it a great Swiss Army knife. But I assess things on their merits, and for me, stereo in/out capability, DSP that doesn't run out, and powerful routing won the day.

This means you could just page through the Control Strip for everything that is currently active - with an emphasis on what is assigned to the Control Footswitches. Offering a complete sound processing solution in an ultra-portable package, GT-1000CORE lets you travel light and tackle any professional playing situation with no additional pedals. I hope they do a GX-100 core as the full size GX-100 is probably my favourite BOSS modeler but I have no need for a built in exp pedal. In addition, we have a library of Owner’s Manuals and Support Documents that you can download and reference. The full DSP muscle of the flagship GT-1000 lives inside this mini juggernaut, driving class-leading sound quality, advanced AIRD technology, 24 simultaneous effects blocks, and over 140 unique amp/effect types for unlimited creative expression. This immense processing muscle unlocks far greater sonic detail than ever before possible, making it easy to get the sounds you’re after without endless parameter tweaks and microscopic EQ adjustments. The GT‑1000’s short loop times, its compact range of onboard amplifiers, their limited range of modifiers and the restriction of loudspeaker changes to the Recording mode only, allied to a Roland/Boss‑heavy range of AIRD output selections, might constrain its operational flexibility a little for some users. I bought the full GT-1000 after the Core which I found obviously more flexible with the additional switches, although the DSP and sound is the same. But if you’re currently looking for a well‑thought out and easy to use modelling/MIDI control/audio interface solution with good amplifier emulations and an enormous effects capability, the GT‑1000 certainly has a lot to offer.

The Core and Full fat 1000 UI's main crime seems to be that it's not HX/Line 6 and that they don't release Updates every 10 mins.I feel that the pedal should have a proper 'Stompbox Mode' option which disables all the AIRD Preamp assignments in one move.

There needs to be some way to scroll though the Active Parameters on the active display-side - for proper efficient on-the-fly adjustment! For purely using for effects, I think the HX Stomp XL or HX Effects may be a better solution as it's more flexible and there's more switching options. As you might expect from its 32‑bit/96kHz processing and Boss heritage, the GT‑1000 has superb‑sounding effects and a clean and dynamic sonic character. I've stated many times that I have a somewhat innate knowledge of Boss algorithms - I know how they sound and how best to tune them - and I've always had an affinity for Boss Effects - right across the board. The core vs Line6 stuff, outside of preference for specific effects or amp models, really comes down to a difference in philosophy. The GT can do a good generic clean or generic high gain, but can't do basic amps like AC30, Plexi, or Tweed Fenders. This means that those 32 Effects Block have very specific purposes and assignments and very fixed limits in place - which mean a total of 3 x Dual Parallel paths - i.
