Fujifilm Finepix Z33WP Digital Camera - Pink (10MP, 3x Optical Zoom) 2.7" LCD

We've been using a full production version of this 120 fps sports camera, to see what you gain (and, perhaps, lose). It has a basic 640×480 resolution, no zoom while recording, an auto-exposure that reacts in abrupt steps to changing lighting conditions and heavy image noise in low light – including most underwater scenes.

The Z33WP has a 3x zoom lens built into the camera body: the lens does not protrude from the front of the camera body. So I decided to get one for myself, since I go fishing alot this Fuji camera is great while I'm on the waters fishing on my floatube. The Z33WP provides a decent selection of image quality and size options, with 6 different sizes on offer, and two levels of quality available at the highest resolution. Unfortunately neither the Casio Exilim EX-Z33 nor Fujifilm FinePix J30 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors.Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day.

Is the extra optical oomph worth the upgrade over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3x (77mm equivalent) telephoto? I would not even think about taking the Nikon in the water, so this lets me get some shots that I might miss. If you've used any other digital cameras, it takes a bit of adjusting to, but eventually you remember where everything is.

Several options are offered for taking delayed photos: as well as the usual 10 and 2 second timers, you can also set the Z33WP to take photos when two people are in the frame (with a further option to control how close together they have to be take the photo) or when a group numbering from 1 to 4 are there.

This graph shows the noise levels of the images we captured in our tests compared with other cameras. To make room for that screen but keep the body small all of the controls are in 2 columns so if you're used to a more typical camera control layout will take some time to adjust to. A rather basic selection of white balance features are on offer, with an auto mode plus 2 daylight, 3 fluorescent and one incandescent preset. The Z33WP can capture videos, but this mode seems like more of an afterthought than a real attempt to capture video. As for noise suppression, even though it appears to be active, blurring the image, there's plenty of chroma noise to go around even at ISO 64.

We found that the Z33WP did a reasonable job of capturing colors; most were reasonably accurate, although they were all somewhat oversaturated, and there was no way to lower this saturation. In terms of hue, the Z33WP performed about average, pushing cyans toward blue, some oranges toward yellow, and some reds toward orange.
