So many of the characters came to life with Anton’s writing and the scenery, whether it was the hotel, the ballroom, Dunkirk all became very real. Now as many of us know, this author can dance but does his talent on the ballroom floor extend to the written word? Add to the mix some war profiteering, some love found in old age, someone brought to madness by war's losses, and it would have been quite a good story if it wasn't for the editing. He has also danced with Ronni Ancona, Su Pollard, Katy Brand and Denise Lewis in the respective 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016 Christmas specials.
It is like meeting up with old friends again and catching up with what has been going on in the lives.

Du Beke has discussed his father's problems with alcoholism and revealed that he was stabbed by his father in the leg and stomach during a Boxing Day altercation at their home in Kent. He has appeared on every series since its inception in 2004, and it was announced in 2021 that he would become a permanent judge on the show, replacing Bruno Tonioli. I’m not sure there are words to describe how overjoyed I am at taking a seat on the Strictly Come Dancing judging panel – such a thrill and a privilege… it really is my dream job! Raymond de Guise, the ballroom's debonair dancer, must do his duty and sign up to join the war effort, leaving his new wife Nancy behind. It really did make me want to find out more detail of the characters back stories, so I can see myself reading the previous books in the series.
