About this deal

Winner of the Funny Women Best Web Series award in 2020, Sophie shares her frank and fearless takes on adult life with an army of fans online, onstage and on screen. Move on two years and she is hell bent on accompanying her friend Jac and more friends on her hen do to Ibiza.

I immediately detested Dom (the weasel) and Cara’s mother is a piece of work too (don’t get me started about Cara’s younger stepsister CA chaotic story that pulls at all the emotions, Sophie’s Mother Hens is the Mums on Tour version of the Inbetweeners. Her ensuing journey to Ibiza, pushed by her friends into a hen party while nursing a broken heart, is a masterclass in comedic chaos. I actually loved the end of the story, the adventure and all, but overall this book could have been better. The book took me a while to get on board as I could not stop thinking that Cara is not Sophie and Cara husband Dom in the book is not Steve her husband. It was also just so relatable, which I think is what made it so funny, because you can relate to the characters and what they’re going through.

I lost count of the times where I had to put the book down because I was crying with laughter and had to implement emergency kegel manoeuvres to ensure I didn’t have an accident! Absolutely fantastic and hilariously funny had me laughing all the way through and loved all the adventures of the mum's. All in all I would recommend as a fun summer beach read, if you want a book packed with surprises and laugh out loud one liners! Before turning to writing, Sophie worked in PR and considers promoting the world’s biggest fish finger as her career highlight. Welcome to a hen do where revenge is served colder than a frozen margarita… Cara Carmichael’s bestie is finally getting hitched, and she’s over the moon because it means one thing… Whoah, they’re going to Ibiza! This book would make a brilliant film so I hope it gets made into one one day, I could picture Rebel Wilson playing Amy 🤩 Highly recommend! Faced with secrets, lies, and betrayal – does it pay to be a good egg, or do bad chicks reign supreme? It’s packed full of great characters, laugh out loud moments, banter, and possibly some of the worst cases of second hand embarrassment I’ve experienced, and it all adds up to be one hell of a book that I will be recommending to everyone that will listen to me. Winner of a Funny Women award in 2020, she now shares her no-holds-barred take on life with a legion of fans online, on stage and on screen.

Before turning to comedy, Sophie worked in PR and considers promoting the world's biggest fish finger as a career highlight. Sophie lives with her husband, two children and an extremely spirited beagle, and is currently writing her next book. If you’re prepared to relax the boundaries of right and wrong and allow some ever so convenient plot turns then this is a fun and frivolous read. Cara Carmichael's bestie is finally getting hitched, and she's over the moon because it means one thing.A great light hearted, entertaining read that would pull you out of any slump and brighten your mood instantly. Cara Stringer, née Carmichael, aged 37, is married to Dom, a professional football manager (although elsewhere he is referred to as the assistant head coach, and yes, it is Man United) and consequently they live in a huge house in Cheshire. I was loving this book when it was based on 4 mums enjoying a hen party in Ibiza and getting themselves into a whole host of hilarious situations. NGL, I was ready to go into full Lorena Bobbitt mode in the first part of the story… I wanted to take Dirty Dom OUT! Lazy days, crazy nights and child-free hangovers sound like hedonistic heaven - but it turns out you can get into a hell of a lot of trouble on the party island where rules are meant to be broken. This is a story about friendship and doing whatever it takes to get a friend out of a dark time in their lives. For Cara, it's a chance to forget about her messy divorce and explosive feud with a stardom-seeking sister and Pina-Colada pickled mother. Still in a downward spiral, her friends try their best to fear her up for the mother of all hen dos. In short, Mother Hens is a rollicking good time, a book I'll be squawking about to anyone who'll listen. Propelled towards internet stardom in 2017 for a parody of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Shape of You’, her stand-up, songs and sketches focus on the messier side of life and the truth about parenting. I follow Sophie on Instagram, find her entertaining and realistic so was intrigued to read her first piece of fiction.
