An open commission to shoot a series of nudes for a calendar for the magazine Myster gave him the opportunity to shoot a second series in 1990. Helmut said "I like photographing the people I love, the people I admire, the famous, and especially the infamous" — and he certainly did. Helmut Newton Violetta with Monocle (Helmut Newton Big Nude IX, Paris, 1991): Medium: silver gelatin print mounted between museum acrylic.

It's a classic Newtonian image – the photographer as both a peeping-Tom inspector of female privacy and the witness of brutal relationships. And perhaps most famously of all, Newton engendered an environment in which his female models claimed the space around them with unapologetic poise and commanding sensuality. The majority of Newton's work was shot in the streets or in interiors; he always said "A woman does not live in front of white paper. Models, stylists, fashion editors, photographers and friends will share unique perspectives on a titan of 20th century fashion photography whose influence lives on.

Since its first publication in 1981, the book has been reprinted thousands of times, by several publishing houses and in multiple languages. For those who are interested in Helmut Newton photos for sale, Deodato Arte offers a selection of the artist's works for sale online. His work with magazines such as French Vogue pushed the envelope of what was possible and exception, but his images still shocked readers and advertisers right until the end of his career. There are many picture-pairs of the models fully clothed on the left-hand page and unclothed on the right, in the same pose. Reference to the few known prints of 'Big Nude III' in this size, however, reveals certain anomalies in the edition.

Helmut is certainly the photographer of women, but the pictures he takes of them are not necessarily what men expect.Big Nude III was first exhibited, with others from the series, in the Galerie Daniel Templon, Paris, in the show 'Helmut Newton Photographies, 1980-81', October 29 - November 26, 1981. e Bundesverdienstkreuz, the French Grand Prix national de la photographie and the World Image Award. While Newton’s striking photos of sinewy models regularly graced the covers of Vogue, it was his nude photographs that ultimately skyrocketed him to fame, with his “White Women” portfolio in 1976 and his “Big Nudes” portfolio in 1981. They'd commissioned me to take these four girls from Paris and do a series of photographs over a day.

It had been published first in French Vogue, October 1980, within an image in which the first series of Big Nudes are hung around the walls of a room, with close-up details glowing on monitor screens, Newton's reinterpretation of the press image that had stimulated his curiosity. While such unusual pictures both astonished and provoked the scene, above all, they revolutionized fashion photography. Sylvia (the cover model) and Brescia, for example, show physical features that aren't very fashionable right now, and that some might "fix" with cosmetic surgery. His shots deal with themes such as women's emancipation, sadomasochism, homosexuality and voyeurism but there are also many portraits of famous people such as Andy Warhol, Catherine Deneuve and Paloma Picasso. Newton deepened our understanding of changing gender roles, of the ways in which beauty creates its own kind of power and corruption. Big Nudes, for me, is where he steps away from the fashion magazines and came into his own on what a Helmet Newton woman was.
