About this deal

Magnus is tortured by Kurtis at the end of the fifth book; while he keeps his resolve to not beg, he can’t keep his resolve not to scream as they break an arm and both his legs. I agree- the complexities and layers a character obtains because of multiple POVs is always a delight! Princess Cleo slays with sweetness—and a secret that might control Lucia’s magic—as she and vengeful Jonas lead the hunt for the all-powerful Kindred.

King Gaius is building a road through the Forbidden Mountains; tunnelling towards the Watcher's Sanctuary. but they can’t agree on the best way to do it, and their leadership fractures once Lysandra and her brashness enter the picture. KING GAIUS: A desperate King of Blood flees Mytica and sails to Kraeshia, where he attempts to ally with the famously brutal emperor across the Silver Sea. In some ways, I now understand the comparisons to Game of Thrones because this narrative is just as fatal to its characters as George R. Grapes can thrive in soil not great for other plants, but not to this level (I talked this over with an agricultural economist who was sceptical about the world-building too).Months before the trip to Paelsia, Cleo got drunk at a party and had sex with Aron, a decision she regretted the next day.

Hopefully, it doesn’t disappoint, because I loved this book and I honestly think it’s maybe the best YA Fantasy I’ve ever read. Rich Suitor, Poor Suitor: Jonas has an interest (once he gets over his dislike of them) in both the princess Cleo and his fellow dirt-poor rebel Lysandra.Cleo is arguably the main character of the story: she had the most page time and meaningful interactions with two other POV characters.

I was expecting the start to be really peaceful and then the war coming towards the end but it actually all happens right at the start and then it builds up throughout the book before exploding at the end. There are three kingdoms: Auranos (Southern kingdom), Paelsia (Middle kingdom) and Limeros (Northern kingdom). Later books replaced this with that chapter’s narrator as the title, A Song of Ice and Fire style, with the location below it. But alluring, dangerous magic still beckons, and with it the chance to rule not just Mytica, but the Rebel Spring is the second title in the gripping New York Times bestselling series, Falling Kingdoms.

There is so much insta-love: two characters who’ve shared a handful of scenes and have never conducted a full conversation are suddenly in love? Sorceress: Lucia, adopted at birth into the royal family, discovers the truth about her past—and the supernatural legacy she is destined to wield. When Cleo leaves the following morning, she asks Eirene for a way to contact her so she can send her a token of appreciation. From the synopsis I could make out that with the three different kingdoms, I assumed that each kingdom had their own sort of take on dealing with the lingering threats reflecting in the one storyline centring around a princess, while the other two were for the rebel and the last for the sorceress. There are quite a few characters to keep track of — I found myself having to use a character list online just to remember who is who and where they’re from.
