About this deal

There are five live tracks, each one recorded at the Yo Yo A Go Go Festival in Olympia WA in 1997, and these demonstrate what a capable, and increasingly confident live performer he had become. Depending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary.

This album features the original tracks carefully remastered from the original source material under the supervision of Larry Crane, owner of Jackpot! Smith's music usually revolves around him and an acoustic guitar which means that while the 2017 versions are sharper there is not a quantum leap in quality. Although Elliott's music was always largely on the (wonderfully) depressing scale, 'Either/Or', though only occasionally, actually has it's more upbeat pop moments, but every track, upbeat or otherwise, is a little work of art.Elliott Smith had ambitions to make records with a Beatlesque sound - but zero interest in Beatlesque fame - when he recorded Either/Or.

Secondary copies sent out will be opened and inspected before being re-shipped to guarantee a non defective replacement. We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. Simple lyricism grounded in realism, contrasted by complex instrumentation and a playful approach to form and structure. The one "new" song present is the wonderful pop/rock of “I Figured You Out,” a track that Smith gave to his friend Mary Lou Lord to record because it “sounds like the f*****n’ Eagles. The late Elliott Smith has now achieved a real cult following, and is largely regarded as some kind of musical 'genius'.

His songs of loss and loneliness have the broken-poet aura of Smog or Mark Eitzel, but he offsets the gloom with a hatful of damnably catchy melodies and progressions, turning suffering into pop and making it signify. Following on from Roman Candle, Smith's startling debut, Elliott Smith is another work of lone ambition. In terms of the remastering comparing with older versions, it doesn't really sound that revolutionary. Every record is shipped in original factory-applied shrink wrap and has never been touched by human hands. Smith's third album, Either/Or, was produced by himself, Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf and released February 25, 1997.The result is this remaster of the original plus a bonus disc of unreleased live tracks, three unreleased songs and a number of curiosities. The additional content features five live multi-track recordings from the Yo Yo A Go Go Festival in Olympia WA in 1997, as well as three previously unreleased studio recordings and one b-side gem.
