About this deal

It really is a good book but if you don’t like people who are a bit babyish then she might not be exactly to your liking! Beauty and her mother, Dilys have a great link unlike her father Gerry was the most spoiled and bad tempered person they have ever met! i feel like rhona is two faced becuase if she liked beauty so much then why cant she been seen with hr in public.

And when I read the description, well, it kind of resonated with me, my mother was a total control freak, and Beauty felt like, well, me. I love the way all the characters develop and grow (Mum and Beauty) and some that never learn (Dad). This is one of my favourite Jacqueline Wilson books, and I think Beauty is one of my favourite of her characters too - I find her very relatable, especially her vivid imagination, her awkwardness, and her love of Sara Crewe from 'A Little Princess'. I sometimes wonder if she is a bit young for some of Jacqueline Wilson themes, but she seems to be able to process and understand. Wilson's talent shows again in this novel with strong, compelling characters and a plot that makes the book hard to put down.

What a great story - I mean, I knew it all already - the horrible bullying schoolmates, not a happy home, but then escape and new friends and everything ends well. After a particularly disasterous birthday, Beauty and her mother escape to the seaside to start a new life. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The thing that distinguishes this from Lola Rose is how Beauty and Dilly are significantly upper class and how Dilly is portrayed. However, when Dilly and Beauty learn that her father let the rabbit Rhona gave Beauty for her birthday out of its cage (and killed by a fox), Dilly decides she has had enough of her husband, tells him she is separating from him and goes away in her car taking Beauty with her.At the school she makes friends and is nicknamed the Cookie Girl, but she still keeps in touch with Rhona by writing letters. Ellie, whose mother died when she was young, misses her love and advice terribly, particularly when it comes to the ever-difficult area of boys. The birthday starts to become unbearable when, at the show, Beauty is too shy to go onstage (the show is to celebrate people's birthdays), and he shouts at her in the limousine as well as ruining her cookies. Jacqueline Wilson was born in Bath in 1945, and spent her childhood in Kingston-on-Thames, Surrey, where she still lives today.
