Microshield Ultra is a water-based masonry waterproofing cream that provides long-lasting and reliable water repellency to mineral surfaces such as brickwork and natural stone. After a week, the bricks looked similar to their appearance before the treatment and after a month, there was no obvious difference. The product seems to be working well and the water seems to bead on the surface of the wall and run off as expected I have tried to show this with a close up photo. Smartseal, in their documentation, states that the wall can be painted with some types of paint but not others, while one of their representatives gave me a straight “no” answer when we asked if the wall could be painted.

Next, we applied the cream via a brush and found the texture very similar to Stormdry, it wasn’t runny and was easy to apply. So Emperor’s Masonry Creme performed very well, much better than Everbuild and comparable to Stormdry and Climashield. Microshield Ultra coverage depends on the porosity and texture of the wall but as a guideline, an area of between 4-5m² can be covered per litre of Microshield Ultra.
