This is often compared to Invictus and Hawas, I would say this leans closer to the latter but they are still very different. I believe a year or so after initial release they tweaked the formula, and I think this is one of the rare instances where a reform actually improved the fragrance.

Copying or inspired by is a compliment, and invictus brings in the money cause it smells great to people who are not against it from the start or have to be wearing Niche. For whatever reason, I later decided to give this fragrance another chance, and I liked it a lot more when I sprayed it on my skin rather than paper. SUMMARY: A moderate to low projection, slightly resinous, mildly sweet, woody, and soft oceanic notes fragrance with light citrus accords. And then, it turns face to a patchouli feel mixed with the fresh STANK of seaweed(which I did not mind), and settles to an almost smoky and fairly warm but dark woody scent. Absolu Instinct still has the classic fresh smell of Armani (YoIt's not just the marine salt that puts me off; there is something seriously off-putting hidden underneath that sweet apple fruity scent. The intensely sweet melody of fruits coupled with LOTS of sugary tonka bean overpowered the earthy notes, woody notes, incense notes, and a gentle amber/leather note. The opening yeah, but the dry down definitely gets rid of the sweetness to leave woods and aquatic notes. The campaign is centered around the classic essence of water, as well as the vibrant natural relationships between water, minerals and wood, starring model Jason Morgan who embodies the conscious ACQUA DI GIÒ values.

Side Note: Instinct kind of smells like something from a different era, say the mid to late 90's, when spicy sensual oriental fragrances were more the rage.Morillas was also the creator of the first Acqua di Gio from 1996, as well as the first female Acqua di Gio from 1995, Acqua di Gio Essenza from 2012 and the marvelous (and my favorite) Acqua di Gio Profumo from 2015.

The fragrance feels breezy, casual, delicate, diluted, diurnal, fresh, marine, moderate-quality, modern, resinous, refreshing, slightly salty, short-lived, simple, sporty, slightly sweet, versatile, woody, and pleasant. Wish this had the same Parfum concentration/ performance as the Stronger with You line; one spray is plenty, I get whiffs all day and into the following day. performance is sneaky, I feel like it has disappeared in 5 hours but smell it on my shirt the next day. ABSOLU is better than 2016 + 2018 Invictus Aqua; its even better than the overhyped ADG-Profumo which is saturated with too much INCENSE that turn off women around me with a strong distaste.This one is much refined than Invictus Aqua and Hawas and is definitely an underrated one in the line.
